Low Flying Aircraft

EDM number 1393 in 2002-03, proposed by Adam Price on 11/06/2003.

That this House notes that large parts of Wales are designated as a military tactical training area; further notes that there are only three such areas in the United Kingdom, with the other two being situated in Scotland; further notes that sustained low flying operations are having a detrimental effect on the communities encompassed in the military tactical training areas; and calls on the Government to re-classify Wales as a non-military tactical training area so that other areas of the United Kingdom, predominantly in England, can have the honour of proudly contributing to the defence needs of the United Kingdom by accommodating essential military training exercises by the RAF.
