New Recruit For Plaid Cymru From The Labour Party

EDM number 1917 in 2002-03, proposed by Simon Thomas on 12/11/2003.

That this House welcomes the decision of Neil McEvoy, vice-chair of the Labour council group in Cardiff City Council and a regional list candidate for the party in the 2003 National Assembly election, to resign from the Labour Party and join Plaid Cymru, the Party of Wales; notes that 14 other members of the Labour Party in the Grangetown, Riverside and Fairwater areas of Cardiff have also resigned their membership; and agrees wholeheartedly with Mr McEvoy when he says that the 'decision to go to war in Iraq sickened me', that 'Wales must have a proper Parliament if we really are going to address our problems' and 'that Plaid Cymru is the only party that is actively engaged in the agenda for social justice and equality of opportunity in Wales'.

This motion has been signed by a total of 6 MPs.
