National Botanic Garden Of Wales

EDM number 435 in 2003-04, proposed by Adam Price on 15/01/2004.

That this House deplores the decision of the Welsh Assembly Government to refuse any further funding for the National Botanic Garden of Wales; notes that Kew Gardens receives ú20 million per annum from the Westminster Government, and that the Botanic Garden in Edinburgh receives ú6 million per annum in public subsidy from the Scottish Parliament; notes that the ú3 million until 2009 asked for by the current Middleton operation offers excellent value; further notes the importance of the Garden to the economy of West Wales; and condemns the Welsh Assembly Government for its lack of vision and for the manner in which it has abandoned the economy of West Wales.
