Bradford Coroner Suspension

EDM number 629 in 2013-14, proposed by George Galloway on 24/10/2013.
Categorised under the topic of Coroners.

That this House notes that the Bradford Coroner Dr Peter Straker was suspended in February 2013; is concerned that he is still suspended after eight months; further notes that the investigation by the Office of Judicial Complaints was meant to be concluded within 90 days; queries why this investigation has been allowed to drag on; points out the unsatisfactory situation where a temporary coroner continues to administer inquests in Bradford; and, while not seeking to influence the investigation, demands an urgent conclusion so that justice can be seen to be done and a permanent position re-established in the city.
