Lothian Broadband Networks Limited

EDM number 673 in 2015-16, proposed by George Kerevan on 09/11/2015.
Categorised under the topic of Internet and cybercrime.

That this House congratulates Lothian Broadband Networks Limited (LBNL), a co-operative established in 2011 in Humbie, East Lothian, with the aim of enabling local communities to access super-fast internet coverage, on winning the UK-wide 2025 Next Generation Digital Challenge Award for Rural Networks category, for their innovative hybrid Fibre/Wireless designs; further congratulates LBNL for winning the Rural Innovators award for Communications from the Scottish Rural Parliament; and notes that these two awards are highly regarded in the telecoms industry and are clear recognition of the commitment and technical expertise of the staff at LBNL, and proof that a local approach can often provide alternative solutions where the large telecoms companies have failed to provide a service.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
