Newmilns Burns Club School Competition

That this House congratulates Newmilns Burns Club on its fourth successful Burns competition; recognises that it works with five local schools to raise awareness and encourage interest in the works of Robert Burns; thanks all of the primary school pupils who took part in the competition, and congratulates the five heat winners, Georgia Smith of Hurlford Primary School, Evie Gallacher of St Sophia's, Brooke Gilmour of Galston Primary School, Megan Bain of Newmilns Primary School and Matthew Ferguson of Darvel Primary; commends them for their performances at Newmilns Bowling Green on 10 March 2017 and thanks their teachers for their encouragement and support; further congratulates the three S6 pupils, from Loudoun Academy on the excellent Immortal Memory, Toast to the Lassies and Reply speeches delivered on the night and wishes them future success when they leave Loudoun Academy; further thanks and congratulates Evie Gallacher of St Sophia's for being crowned the overall winner for her rendition of Holy Willie's Prayer; and notes that Stuart Lyon of Newmilns Burns Club is a renowned speaker but that the future is in bright hands with the performance of Robert Gordon in delivering Address to the Haggis.
