That this House congratulates the pupils, teachers and communities of St John's Barrhead, Braidbar, Giffnock and Thornliebank Primary Schools on their outstanding achievement in being awarded Sport Scotland Gold status; recognises the huge commitment this has involved from sports committees, sports clubs, school staff, active schools teams and dedicated volunteers; applauds the imaginative and inclusive approach to engaging young people with health, sport and fitness; further recognises that the sustainability of the engagement of the pupils is dependent upon activities which interest them, and notes the outstanding partnership-working in this regard with athletics, football, cricket, Bollywood dancing and many other groups focussed on ensuring enjoyable exercise; recognises that these schools join Kirkhill, Carolside, Busby and Netherlee Primary Schools, and Mearns Castle, Eastwood, Williamwood, St Ninian's and Woodfarm High Schools in East Renfrewshire as Gold Award holders; and encourages these schools in their continuing positive influence on the lives of young people and the wider community.
