This House congratulates Plaid Cymru-run Carmarthenshire County Council for enhancing the supply of affordable public housing across the county; commends the Council for building the first new public social housing since 1980 and for retaining its stock despite pressures from the Labour-run Welsh Government to stock transfer; notes that the Council was the first in Wales to suspend Right to Buy; welcomes the additional investment of £8.5 million to build over 60 new council homes over the next two years; further notes that the Council aims to deliver 1,000 affordable homes over the next 10 years as part of a £360 million commitment; and further congratulates Cabinet Member Councillor Linda Evans for her work in ensuring that Carmarthenshire will have a social stock of housing to enable the Council to deal with accommodation challenges in the future.
