Christian Aid And Third World Debt

That this House applauds the initiative being promoted by Christian Aid to raise awareness among British and other European parliamentarians of the problem of Third World debt; and supports Christian Aid's call for the Trinidad Terms to be made available to all low income countries and all lower middle income countries with debt problems, for the debt relief offered to be at least 50 per cent., increasing to 80 per cent. for the poorest countries, for the whole stock of debt to be addressed, for the United States of America to be encouraged to cancel rather than reschedule debts and for the British Government to ensure that there is a comparable response from the United Kingdom commercial banks.
