Bear Farming In China

That this House expresses its shock at hearing of the practice in China of bears having stomach taps implanted to remove bile juice; notes the evidence produced on film by the International Fund for Animal Welfare of the trade in bile and other bear products which are claimed to have medicinal properties and are obtainable in the United Kingdom; calls upon the Chinese government to close Nan Ping Bear Farm in Zhuhai, Southern China and the thirty or more other such horror farms in that country; and requests Her Majesty's Government to make the strongest possible protest to the Chinese authorities and to ban the import of bear bile and bear paw soup into this country immediately.
