Chloride Company Sacking

EDM number 1258 in 1989-90, proposed by Ian McCartney on 09/07/1990.

That this House condemns the provocation and brutal actions of the Chloride company in sacking 50 of its Southampton based workforce involved in a legitimate industrial dispute; further recognises that the action of the company's management is a flagrant denial of the workers' basic human rights to organise an industrial dispute; whole-heartedly commends the courage of the 50 sacked women from Chloride; condemns the cowardice of the company; and calls upon Chloride to immediately reinstate the sacked workers while agreeing to recommence negotiation in order that the legitimate dispute can be brought to a satisfactory conclusion.
