That this House welcomes the candidature of Sir Kenneth Alexander for the Board of British Steel, backed by the work-force at Ravenscraig; recognises the distinguished industrial experience Sir Kenneth will bring to the Board; endorses his objective of securing access to all of the information necessary to assess whether or not the intended closure of the hot strip mill is in the company's best interest; and urges the Chairman of British Steel to release this information publicly.
