Peter Elliott - Gold Medallist

EDM number 460 in 1989-90, proposed by Peter Hardy on 06/02/1990.

That this House offers its congratulations to Peter Elliott of Rawmarsh who more than maintained Britain's record in middle distance running by his success in the Commonwealth Games; notes that this success was not only convincing but accompanied by exemplary conduct; and further notes that his achievement has been greatly welcomed by the Mayor and citizens of the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham and by his colleagues at Rotherham Engineering Steels who have given consistent support to this fine athlete not least during the period when the national media seemed particularly disdainful in its assessment of his ability.

This motion has been signed by a total of 24 MPs.
