Sunday Shopping

EDM number 791 in 1989-90, proposed by Robert G Hughes on 26/03/1990.

That this House welcomes the launch of OPEN (Outlets Providing for Everyday Needs), the new campaign by small, local shops to be allowed to sell their full range of goods early till late seven days a week; notes that the present Shops Act 1950 is outdated, muddled and unpopular; recognises that four million customers visit their local shop every Sunday; and urges the Government to fulfil its pledge to bring sense and consistency to trading law.

This motion has been ammended, see 1454A1.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
