DISABLED PERSONS' RIGHT TO ACCESS TO PUBLIC TRANSPORT

EDM number 279 in 1990-91, proposed by Emma Nicholson on 14/01/1991.

That this House believes that disabled people have a right to be able to travel on affordable public transport; applauds the efforts of the Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee to achieve this; but, recognising that public transport is still largely inaccessible to many people with disabilities, calls for legislative action to require that all new rail projects (i.e. new build, extensions and underground lines) , should be designed and constructed to allow full access to all people with disabilities, including wheelchair users.
