Spiritual Support For Forces And Their Families

EDM number 457 in 1990-91, proposed by Patrick Cormack on 12/02/1991.

That this House, recognising the tensions and hazards to which British and other multinational forces are exposed in the Gulf War, and applauding the work of Chaplains to the forces and others in bringing the hope and encouragement of religion to those confronted with loss or peril in this war, believes that a national service of prayer and worship at Westminster Abbey, appropriately recognising the needs of servicemen overseas in the Gulf and supported by leaders of Church and State, would bring further hope and encouragement not only to those serving overseas but also to their families at home.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
