Onllwyn Washery, Dulais Valley, West Glamorgan

EDM number 493 in 1990-91, proposed by Dafydd Elis Thomas on 18/02/1991.

That this House notes with concern that 120 people employed by Ryan International at the Onllwyn Washery in the Dulais Valley, West Glamorgan, have been in dispute with the company since May 1990, and despite the workers' best efforts no settlement has been achieved; and calls on British Coal, who have a contract with Ryan Internation, and the company, to take immediate steps to settle the dispute in terms acceptable to the workforce, or to enter into immediate talks with the workers to set up a co-operative venture to operate the washery without the need for third party involvement.
