Justice For The Udr Four

EDM number 556 in 1990-91, proposed by Ian Paisley on 04/03/1991.

That this House calls upon the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland to order an immediate referral to the Court of Appeal of the case concerning Neil Latimer, Noel Bell, James Hegan and Winston Allen, known as the UDR Four, based upon new evidence and an RUC ESDA report that the Secretary of State has had in his possession since the beginning of this year, also new evidence that discredits the chief Crown witness and questions the role of both priests Faul and Murray who assisted in obtaining her statement and that questions the authenticity of the signed confessions and points to an interference with the process of law; further calls upon the Secretary of State to make public the findings of the ESDA report; and believes that, in not doing so, he would be ignoring an injustice that will have wide reaching effects in Northern Ireland.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
