Gerald Ratner And Consumer Protection
EDM number 750 in 1990-91, proposed by Ron Brown on 24/04/1991.
That this House congratulates Gerald Ratner for admitting that his shops sell 'total crap', to use his reported words; notes nevertheless that this policy has made him a millionaire at the expense of his customers; and calls on the next Labour government to improve consumer protection laws in order to prevent further rip-offs by big business at the expense of the working class.
This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
