Ban On Tobacco Advertising

That this House notes the recent report published by the Cancer Research Campaign showing evidence of a clear relationship between tobacco advertising and the likelihood of children starting to smoke; further notes that in New Zealand, Canada and Norway tobacco advertising bans have been followed by a substantial reduction in tobacco consumption; notes that a similar ban in the United Kingdom could be expected to save over 8,000 lives a year; and calls on the Government to support the European Commission Directive to ban all forms of tobacco advertising.
