Pub Theatre

EDM number 179 in 1991-92, proposed by John Cummings on 15/11/1991.

That this House recognises the great value of pub theatre and notes with interest the recent production of Thatcher's Women, at present playing in the White Bear public house, Kennington, which is a statement of our time, a wonderful piece of theatre and a damning verdict of Thatcher's Britain; applauds the writer Kay Adshead, director Andy Cooper and the Blake Theatre Company; is concerned over the lack of funding for pub theatre which offers young writers and players the opportunity to project their skills and many talents; and calls upon the Government to provide the necessary financial assistance to promote and encourage pub theatre which is enjoyed by many.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
