OPEN UNIVERSITY'S 21st BIRTHDAY

That this House congratulates the Open University on its 21st Birthday; praises the Labour Government that gave it birth; particularly thanks it for its contribution to Scotland where 900 people graduated from the Open University last year, a higher proportion of the population than elsewhere in Britain; and is grateful that a Labour Government is returning with the same faith in people and belief in education for its own sake that gave Britain the Open University and changed so many lives for the better.
