SUNDERLAND'S CITY STATUS

EDM number 2055 in 1992-93, proposed by Roland Boyes on 20/05/1993.

That this House is pleased that the former Borough of Sunderland has been succeeded by the new City of Sunderland; notes that almost one year after handing the letters patent to representatives of the new city, Her Majesty the Queen visited Sunderland to unveil its new coat of arms; welcomes the fact that Sunderland is now the newest city; believes that the designation of city will give great pleasure to the many citizens of Sunderland; and looks forward to the progressive city council to build on this unique and new beginning.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
