Proposed Rescheduling Of News At Ten

That this House regrets the proposal to move the News at Ten from the slot it has filled so successfully for a quarter of a century; points out that the interests of an informed democracy are best served by a news programme late in the evening when the news comes to a head but before the nation goes to bed; regrets the fact that this decision is being imposed on Independent Television News without consultation or preparation; and urges the Independent Television Commission to intervene to stop this ill-considered proposal becoming a fait accompli.
