Leicester City Council And The Rio Summit

EDM number 238 in 1992-93, proposed by Keith Vaz on 11/06/1992.

That this House congratulates Leicester City Council and its Leader, Councillor Peter Soulsby, on being awarded honours under the United Nations programme for municipalities; considers this is a great achievement, both for the city and the United Kingdom as a whole; notes that Leicester was the only city invited to represent the United Kingdom at the UNICEF conference in Rio, and one of only 12 such cities world wide; recognises the city award relates to its designation by the RSNC and Friends of the Earth as Britain's First Environment City, which is a partnership between the local authorities, businesses, voluntary organisations, academic institutions, health authorities and individuals in the community; and wishes Woody Tree and Colin the Caterpillar many years of success.

This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
