Fisheries Protection

EDM number 364 in 1992-93, proposed by Paul Tyler on 29/06/1992.

That this House condemns the outrageous attack on British fishing vessels by French fishermen; notes the action of the Royal Navy in attending upon the scene and boarding suspect vessels; calls upon the French authorities to expedite the investigation of the incident and to compensate all those who have suffered damage and loss of earnings; condemns Her Majesty's Government for placing the whole system of fisheries protection at risk by attempting to privatise the service; and believes that for the safety of the British fishing fleet and effective conservation of fish stock fisheries protection should remain in the hands of the Royal Navy.

This motion has been signed by a total of 25 MPs.
