Redundancies At Vsel
EDM number 391 in 1992-93, proposed by John Hutton on 01/07/1992.
That this House notes with grave concern the announcement of 1,000 redundancies on 1st July at VSEL in Barrow; recognises that over 5,000 jobs have been lost at VSEL since 1990; believes that these redundancies have had a devastating effect on the local community; and calls upon the Government to take urgent and fresh action to provide new employment opportunities for the people of Cumbria.
