Mobility Allowance For The Under-Fives

EDM number 1079 in 1993-94, proposed by Barry Sheerman on 20/04/1994.

That this House fails to understand why the Department of Social Security persists in discrimination against disabled children under five years old by making them ineligible for the mobility component of disability living allowance; draws attention to the fact that medical opinion can determine in a great many cases that children under five are unable to walk or be independently mobile as a direct result of a disabling medical condition; and calls on the Secretary of State for Social Security to take the long overdue action necessary to resolve this anomaly.
