Concessionary Tv Licences For Pensioners

EDM number 1218 in 1993-94, proposed by Dafydd Wigley on 11/05/1994.

That this House recognises the very considerable comfort for pensioners, and particularly for single pensioners and single disabled persons, which arises from viewing television; believes therefore that no pensioner or disabled person should be deprived from receipt of a full television service because of the level of the television licence; notes that a 25 per cent. reduction is provided for single household council tax payers; and calls on the Home Office to bring forward proposals for a similar 25 per cent. reduction in the television licence for pensioners and disabled people living in single households.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
