Government Review Of The Housing (Homeless Persons) Act 1977

That this House deplores the recent Government Green Paper reviewing the Housing (Homeless Persons) Act 1977; calls upon the government to heed the wishes of homeless people, local authorities, housing associations and the voluntary sector not only by preserving, but also extending, the existing legislation; believes that artificially decreasing the demand for public housing, instead of increasing supply, will not solve the crisis of homelessness; notes that homeless people are in the most severe form of housing need; and concludes that such an attack on their rights will have a huge impact on the stability of families; and on the development of young people.
