Newspaper Price Wars

That this House is alarmed at the price-cutting battle between newspaper proprietors and believes it will result in fewer titles, fewer jobs, less choice for readers and a further dangerous concentration of ownership; regrets the delay by the Department of National Heritage in concluding its review of media ownership and cross-ownership; and calls upon the Office of Fair Trading to launch an urgent inquiry into national newspaper pricing.
