Caribbean Banana Regime

EDM number 569 in 1993-94, proposed by Llin Golding on 09/02/1994.

That this House, noting that the banana producers of the Caribbean Commonwealth countries are facing ruin because of the implementation of the new European Banana Scheme and noting that no price mechanism is in place, unlike the support given to Guadeloupe and Martinique, demands urgent action form Her Majesty's Government to support the immediate granting of the aid regime promised under Article 4 of the Lome IV to small producers who rely heavily on bananas.
