That this House regrets the announcement that it is intended to sell the Transport Research Laboratory into the private sector; believes that Ministers would not have had sufficient confidence in a private business to strengthen the M4 Severn Bridge, reverse the decision of the Committee of this House to require wind shields on the Dartford-Thurrock Bridge to the east of the M25, install crash barriers on motorways, and cut road deaths by more than 50 per cent from the peak; and invites the Government to consider whether the declared threats to the Transport Research Laboratory are within the control of the Department of Transport.
