Gaelic Television Fund

That this House applauds the high quality of programming achieved in the application of the Gaelic Television Fund since its establishment in 1992; welcomes its creation of the equivalent of 300 full-time jobs, particularly in the more disadvantaged areas of Scotland; recognises that the Fund has also generated an additional ú11 million for the Scottish economy; notes with concern the significant reduction in the Fund in 1994-95 and the impact this will have on programmes in 1995-96; and calls upon the Government to support the work of the Gaelic Television Committee by restoring the Fund, in order that the industry can build upon its success and plan effectively for future growth and development.
