Mr Bernard Connolly

EDM number 1480 in 1994-95, proposed by Teddy Taylor on 18/10/1995.

That this House offers its congratulations to Mr Bernard Connolly for his bravery in putting his senior position as Head of the EMS and Monetary Policy Unit at risk because of his belief that the people of Europe should be warned that the policy of fixed exchange rates leading to a Euro-currency will inevitably lead to mass unemployment in Europe, the destruction of democracy and possible civil unrest; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government, in light of the current job-destroying policies in France following the United Kingdom nightmare of the ERM, to make it clear that it will not in any circumstances agree to United Kingdom participation in artificial exchange rates.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
