Future Of The Police

EDM number 157 in 1994-95, proposed by Martin Redmond on 30/11/1994.

That this House has no confidence in the proposals of the Sheehy Report on the basis of which the Government is planning the destruction of public policing in the United Kingdom; notes the observation of a chief constable concerning Sir Patrick's obvious lack of understanding of policing; and believes that the public should look to the future of policing with trepidation.
