Iran And Human Rights

EDM number 215 in 1994-95, proposed by Vivian Bendall on 07/12/1994.

That this House strongly condemns the recent Scud-B missile attack on a base of the National Liberation Army of Iran and the air raid on Iranian Kurdish positions on the Iran-Iraq border by the Iranian regime, in direct violation of international law, notably UN Security Council Resolution 598, in which a number of civilians were killed and wounded; regrets that in the absence of any serious or practical measures on the part of the UN and its Security Council members, the clerical regime in Iran has been encouraged to continue with acts of represssion at home and terrorism abroad; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to seize the opportunity, through the UN Security Council, to examine the conduct of the Iranian regime and impose an arms and oil embargo on it.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
