Invasion Of Chechnya

EDM number 298 in 1994-95, proposed by Harry Cohen on 15/12/1994.

That this House condemns the invasion of Chechnya by Russian troops ordered by Boris Yeltsin; notes that this invasion did not have the support of the Russian Parliament and is most strongly opposed by the vast majority of the population in Chechnya; expresses its fear and concern for the unnecessary loss of life to both Chechnyans and Russian soldiers arising from this invasion; and compares the euphoria of the liberation of peoples from Soviet rule five years ago, with the foreboding and ill-portents that this current invasion represents.
