Nuclear Proliferation In Iran

That this House is deeply concerned at the recent agreement between Russia and Iran to complete the Bushehr nuclear power plant; notes that Iran has signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and that the US Secretary of Defence, Mr William Perry, has recently observed that Iran may now have the potential to become a nuclear power and that it has also been trying to obtain a ready-made Soviet-developed nuclear device; urges the Government of Russia to ensure that their country does not directly or indirectly assist Iran in the manufacture of procurement of nuclear weapons; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to raise these concerns with the governments of Russia and Iran as a matter of urgency.
