Activity Of Saudi Intelligence In London

EDM number 55 in 1994-95, proposed by George Galloway on 17/11/1994.

That this House views with grave concern the report by Chester Stern, crime correspondent on the Mail on Sunday, entitled 'Scotland Yard warns of death plot: Saudi squad hunts rebels in Britain', which discloses that a group of Saudi Arabian agents are on a secret mission to London to assassinate exiled Saudis, that Scotland Yard has warned Saudi opposition leaders in London to step up their personal security and that intelligence sources have linked the plot to the Saudi security services; considers that such serious allegations must be thoroughly investigated by Her Majesty's Government, and, if true, responded to in the firmest possible manner; and that, meanwhile, securing the safety of London-based Saudi opposition figures - who may one day form the government of that country - should be an immediate Government priority; and, in the light of the above, calls on Her Majesty's Government urgently to reconsider its decision to refuse refugee status to the former Saudi diplomat Ahmed Al-Zahrany.
