Privatisation Of The Insolvency Service
EDM number 723 in 1994-95, proposed by Mike O'Brien on 02/03/1995.
That this House opposes privatisation of the Insolvency Service, which has 100 years' history of excellent public service; is concerned that Stoy Hayward have been paid ú76,669 for one report and ú72,263 of taxpayers' money for a second report which gave them detailed knowledge of the working of the Insolvency Service but have declined to do the third report needed because they may decide to bid for the work of the services; and calls on the Government to stop privatisation or, failing that, to exclude from bidding any firm like Stoy Hayward which has had privileged access to information before bidding.
