Choice Of Site For Millennium Exhibition

EDM number 528 in 1995-96, proposed by Lynne Jones on 27/02/1996.

That this House would be amazed if the leaked information that Greenwich is to be the chosen site for the Millennium Exhibition is correct; calls on the Millennium Commission to show by its choice of site that the exhibition is for the whole nation and that lottery money is not being used to substitute for the public expenditure needed for urban regeneration in Greenwich; and expresses the view that all objective criteria point to the selection of Birmingham located at the heart of the nation with 30 million people within two hours travel time and the favoured choice of Imagination the company that has been selected as operator.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
