Improved Safety For Holiday Makers

That this House notes that at the start of the holiday season an increasing number of charter companies and brokers are using foreign-registered aircraft which the CAA has accepted are outside their regulatory and safety regimes; further notes that holidaymakers who in good faith book with a particular United Kingdom tour operator and who expect to fly on a UK-registered and crewed aircraft are frequently informed only after checking-in that the aircraft has been changed to a non-United Kingdom registered aircraft; draws attention to the increased number of flag of convenience aircraft operating from United Kingdom airports; and calls on the Government to introduce or amend legislation to ensure that all foreign-registered aircraft operating to and from the United Kingdom meet United Kingdom safety standards in full, and that such safety standards are enforced.
