Incorporation Of Colleges Of Further Education

That this House is alarmed that the incorporation of colleges of further education, pursuant to the Further and Higher Education Act 1992, has caused a severe worsening of the terms and conditions of staff in this sector; notes that since incorporation large numbers of academic staff have been dismissed for refusing to agree substantial variations to their contracts of employment, whilst others have only reached agreement under economic duress or have been made redundant from their posts; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to carry out a full review of the present situtation which as so far led to the loss of thousands of further education teaching jobs and denied pay increases, promotion and staff development for those who remain.
