Fashion And Animal Fur

EDM number 598 in 1996-97, proposed by Tony Banks on 28/02/1997.

That this House deplores the use of animal fur on clothes designed by Clements Ribeiro during London Fashion Week; reminds designers such as Mr Ribeiro that the animals who were killed to provide the fur lived in misery and died in pain; congratulates the Boss Models Agency for boycotting the Ribeiro outfits; and advises designers who believe that they can ignore the campaign against the fur trade that they are gravely underestimating the depth of public feeling in this country.
