Commemoration Of The Suez Crisis

EDM number 60 in 1996-97, proposed by Harry Cohen on 24/10/1996.

That this House acknowledges on this the fortieth anniversary of the Suez invasion that both the Conservative Foreign Secretary, Selwyn Lloyd and the Conservative Prime Minister, Anthony Eden, lied to Parliament; further notes that the Conservative Premier embarked on an unjustified war which resulted in the humiliation of Britain; and, in view of this, calls for the removal of all portraitures and busts of Selwyn Lloyd and Anthony Eden from the publicly accessible precincts of Parliament and recommends revocation of Sir Anthony Eden's knighthood.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
