Case Of Mr John Quinn
EDM number 617 in 1996-97, proposed by Eric Martlew on 05/03/1997.
That this House notes that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the trial, and subsequent conviction, of Mr John Quinn of Carlisle for receiving stolen property; notes that Mr Quinn was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment and that since his conviction Mr Quinn has campaigned vigorously to have his conviction overturned and has always maintained his innocence; observes that Mr Quinn has written repeatedly to his Member of Parliament, over the years, to the county constabulary and to every Home Secretary since 1957; and urges the Home Secretary to allow Mr Quinn to appeal against his conviction.
This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
