Beef Industry In Northern Ireland

EDM number 70 in 1996-97, proposed by Eddie McGrady on 25/10/1996.

That this House, in view of the on-going and exceptional problems faced by the farming industry in Northern Ireland as a result of the BSE crisis, calls for immediate action for the urgent disposal of animals registered for the over 30 month cull programme, for an adequate increase in compensation payments and for the immediate introduction of the accelerated slaughter scheme in association with the introduction of proper compensation levels.
