SEVERN TRENT'S PRICING PRACTICES;Amdt. line 1:

EDM number 1174A2 in 1997-98, proposed by Peter Luff on 30/04/1998.

leave out from 'House' to end and add 'congratulates Severn Trent Water on its intensive programme of capital investment, including the upgrading of water mains in the area formerly served by the East Worcestershire water company;looks forward to the completion of this work in the Broadway area and to the rapid implementation of improvements to the sewers in Droitrich Spa High Street; urges Severn Trent to do all it can to conserve the environment in the area it serves; but notes that such expenditure, often the inevitable consequence of decades of under-investment by the nationalised water industry, has to be paid for and that limited real term price increases are the unavoidable consequence; and believes that consumers are prepared to pay modest sums for better water supply, more hygenic and efficient sewers and an improved environment.'.

This is a ammendment to 1174.
