Government Policy On Motorists
EDM number 153 in 1997-98, proposed by Michael Fabricant on 23/06/1997.
That this House notes the recent pronouncements by the Government on the need to limit private mileage by motorists; believes that this is motivated more by a need to meet Treasury spending commitments than a genuine desire to secure benefits to the environment; and fears that the private motorist will be made to bear a disproportionate burden for Labour's election pledges.
